Hey guys,

so yesterday I went late night Ikea shopping with one of my closest friends. 

I decided that I really needed a desk for my room and because we're impatient we went last night. 

We couldn't wait any longer! 

I seriously love Ikea, I don't know why but I just have this fascination towards it. I think it might have to do with the fact that it just causes you to imagine all the different possibilities of your own house someday. Or maybe I just love it because of the fun trolley rides that you can do when collecting all your stuff.. even if my friend freaked out and told me to get off... whoops. 

So this was the trolley full of stuff, -after I had finally stopped using it as a skateboard. I went in planning on just buying the one desk, and being really strict with myself but of course, I ended up buying a desk chair, a wooden doll mannequin. Why a wooden doll mannequin you ask? Because my friend convinced me that it would look great on my new desk... 

I already had the shelf in my room so I wanted to get the desk that attaches to save space. So when I got home at around midnight I couldn't stop staring at the boxes, no matter how late it was I had to put them up now! So I ripped open the boxes, pumped some Wombats music and put the furniture together. Here is a quick photo of my desk. Remember people it was like 1AM by this time so the decorating is very minimal! But I will upload a new picture soon of what the desk looks like when I have it how I actually want it to look. :)

But seriously, I'm so happy to finally have a desk in my room! I can't wait to have a designated place to draw and design. Anyways, if there is anyone that reads this, I'd love for you guys to show me your desks, or link me to your blog posts about your room! 

Oh and the mannequin looked pretty good, if I do say so myself, thanks friend.

so right now I am completely and entirely in love with Windsor Smith shoes.

John Green - The Fault in Our Stars Book Review

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. 

I personally adored this book. It's like nothing I have ever read before. There are many reasons for me as to why I felt that I personally clicked with the story, but as well as the I genuinely felt it to be relatable book despite it's plot.

The story follows the lives of two teenagers named Hazel and Augustus, who unfortunately, or fortunately -however you choose to look at it- have cancer. Hazel is "lucky" enough to be given a drug that allows her cancer to stop growing and therefore it allows her to remain in the state of progression that she is at with her cancer; indefinitely. Augustus, seems to be more "lucky" as he is in remission at the beginning of the novel.

Green definitely takes you on a journey in this book, a journey of life and the ultimate questions or worries we all end up asking ourselves or stressing about. Despite the fact that Green is a middle aged man writing as a teenage girl, the book and the characters still work. Green finds a way to make you absolutely fall in love with every single solitary thing about Hazel Grace Lancaster, Augustus Waters and their friends and family.

Within the novel we see Hazel's obsession with the novel 'An Imperial Affliction' who also features a cancer patient named Anna. The story of Hazel and the story of Anna share a lot of similarities, much like AIA, TFiOS doesn't really end completely. As well as this I found that there was a really true and meaningful metaphor in the fact that Van Houten -the author of AIA- didn't have all the answers Hazel wanted, and that he wasn't as heroic as Hazel assumed him to be. He was just a broken man, who had many faults and issues just like Hazel and Augustus' lives had.

For me the characters in the book are what make it readable, even though it hurts and their are many times you could cry, you have to read on. For Hazel, for Augustus, you need to know more. Hazel is an intelligent girl, and you can see that despite her cutting her schooling short and attending University early, life has taught her many lessons that school could not. She's pretentious, young and inspiring. Much like Augustus, however Augustus is more romantic and a little less down about life. When reading the novel, I got so frustrated, I asked myself 'why did Augustus have to die?' but I guess that's life, we all die. As well as that I guess it showed the reader and Hazel herself that life is life, and we are all faced with our own mortality, however you can't let it get you down because life is unpredictable.

That is the best part about this book in my opinion, not the love story between Hazel and Augustus (although that's pretty beautiful too), but outlook that the characters have on life. They look at it in a way that not many people think you would if you were diagnosed with cancer.
For me, cancer has affected me quite closely and this book really shed light on a lot of feelings and questions I had about life and my feelings toward it.
I love how Augustus and Hazel call different things in the novel 'Cancer Perks' -meaning that they are only receiving this particular treatment because they have cancer. I love how Augustus states that he fears oblivion and the words Hazel says to him saying "I encourage you to ignore it, God knows that's what everybody does". I love how honest she is about life and about how one day we will all be in that "oblivion" of death. It's not like some of us get out of here alive and I guess that's what really hit home for me. The novel wasn't a depression fest, it was just honesty about how shit life can be, but also about how amazing it can be.

All in all I admired this novel greatly and didn't find one hamartia. I rate it 10/10.
It will make you cry, it will make fall in love, and it will make you laugh. A lot.

Girls - The Series

So last year sometime I began watching the television series Girls.
It was and is definitely one of those shows that you begin watching and nothing can stop you from clicking play to another episode.
I bought the season and sat down with one of my sisters -I'm pretty sure we got through the whole of the first season all in the one night.

The series follows the lives of four girls, in their mid-twenties who live in New-York.
The protagonist of the plot line is Hannah Horvath, seemingly normal on the outside and the complete opposite on the inside. She is what I would say addicted to sex, highly intelligent, extremely selfish as well as having a sense of humour that any intellectually driven person would die for.

I would describe it almost like a more current, vintage and humorous Sex and The City. Although I myself am not a Sex and The City fan, I can see the similarities. SatC is a show based around what women wish they had, and Girls resonates with what and how we really are. Each of the four characters in Girls, are relatable. For me this causes you to get addicted because you get to be able to see the humour and struggle that we have to go through in todays day and feel ok about it. It's like 'Hey, we all go through it, now laugh about it'.
I know -like a lot of us do in regards to SatC- my sister and I picked which character we thought we would most be like from Girls. In my opinion I'm a Jessa, but maybe that's more about what I actually wish I was as apposed to who I actually am.

Hannah is played by the amazingly talented actress, Lena Dunham (second from the left), who is now one of my favourites. She plays her role impeccably well, and I don't doubt that it has to do with the fact that Dunham is actually the creator of the show. When and if you have watched the show you will know what I mean when I say that Dunham is the only girl who could play Hannah, she is the epitome of the character she has created.

According to Dunham, 'Hannah' is based a lot around herself, as well as her best friend in the show 'Marnie' is also based heavily around Dunham's actual best friend.
For me, the similarities that Dunham created to her own life only allowed the show to be fresh and empowering to women. It's like a breath of fresh air in the television world, it is diverse and individual.

If you are a prude or under the age of 16 I would definitely not recommend the show to you as it heavily features sex and even the occasional use of drugs.
But if you are anyone or anything else I would recommend it, enjoy the life in New York of the writer Hannah who will do anything to find a story, and that can includes doing drugs with her ex boyfriend, who is now gay or it can include pissing off a friend just to be able to write about it.

To sum it up, all I can say is my world without Hannah and without the TV show Girls would not be half as fulfilling as it is with it in my life. It's raw and real, and I really love that it is finally a show that features girls as the protagonists. I rate it 9.5/10.

Introduction to the Blogger world

Hi guys,
so I am pretty new to Blogger.
I remember actually creating an account in, I think 2010. This would mean I was only a year 10!
Anyways, I'm looking forward to sharing my interests, my opinions and my dislikes with your interests, your opinions and your dislikes.
I really can't wait to get started and I'm seriously looking forward to blogging.
I have recently been using the more simple way to blog, being Tumblr.
I remember last time I tried Blogger I couldn't get my head around the templates and HTML codes, and truth be told; I still can't. However I am determined to blog despite this minor error and learn as I go.
For now, my blog has to look as abominable as it does until I can understand how to actually make it how I want it to look.
I'm really excited, can't wait to get more and more into my blog.
